About Us
Golden Hammer offers a variety of services, both large and small. From designing and building new residential and commercial properties to completing difficult renovations, the company brings years of experience to big projects. Golden Hammer also provides smaller home remodeling and repair services and can perform septic installation, retaining & masonry work, snow removal, and property management.
Golden Hammer is fully licensed and insured. John Reis, the company's President, owner and master builder, retains a Construction Supervisor's License (CSL #004638) and is registered with the Home Improvement Contractor's Association (HIC 110408). He is also a licensed septic installer in the town of Provincetown.
John Reis
Owner
John Reis has deep roots in Provincetown. He was born and raised at land's end and is now raising his own family in town with his wife Joy. In addition to running Golden Hammer, John also operates a work-study program for local high school students and has been a member of the town's Volunteer Fire Department since 1974, when he started as a junior firefighter at the age of 13.
John takes pride in his work. He is a master builder and excels at fine finish work, which he loves because it is the layer of construction that brings it all together. He is also thrilled by the challenges of renovation work and has the vision to imagine what a place could become. Many of his renovations have been honored with awards from the Historic Commission.
Joy Reis
Owner
Joy Reis is also an Outer Cape native. She grew up in North Truro and attended Provincetown High School. Joy now splits her time between raising the couple's twin sons and running the administrative side of Golden Hammer.
She is very personable and brings attentive, small-business warmth to the company's client relations.

Since its establishment by lifelong Provincetown resident John Reis in 1989, Golden Hammer has completed scores of custom homes, commercial buildings and renovations in the Outer Cape areas.
A family-run company that employs a small team of expert builders, Golden Hammer specializes in getting both big and small projects done on time, while adhering to a standard of excellence. The company has extensive experience with both challenging renovations and new property construction, from foundation to finish work.
Reis, who graduated from Provincetown High School in 1979, received a "Golden Hammer" award, which was the first of its kind and the only one ever awarded. John also brings to the building process a deep familiarity with the area's unique environmental characteristics and a practiced ability to work with the local zoning, preservation and historic boards.
The quality of Golden Hammer's work stands on its own through word of mouth and client references alone. John Reis has become a trusted leader in the Outer Cape's building community.
